The Enchanted Book Coven (Elemental Witchcraft Pages 1-26)

Live Book Club Meetings Every Tuesday!

Hello again my enchanted ones 🥰

This is a little recap from our first deep dive into our book. We went over the first 26 pages. There was a lot of introductions and explanations the author started off with, (which makes sense because she needs to explain how her mind process works for the book), but we still managed to get a lot of information from it.

If you missed the live, or if you’re just starting out, you can watch the replay (here).

Favorite Quotes

At the start of every meeting I want to share my favorite quote(s) from the book, and I highly encourage you to share yours as well!

  • My Quote: Ignorance is an option no one has to take. (pg 11)

  • Quote from Gillian: “So you have to forge your own path through first hand experience.” (pg ???)

A gentle reminder, my loves if you’re participating or thinking about it. There’s no rush and no pressure. Move at your own rhythm, catch replays when it suits you, and join the chat whenever you’re called. You don’t even need to read the book! Just bring your curiosity and cozy up with our witchy book coven. We have lots of magickal fun here.

The author’s tone, fealings, and overall word choice is very direct, strong and passionate, which I find very compelling (although it might not be for everyone). This book isn’t a story, it really feels more like a text book. It’s one of the reasons why our first run with it didn’t work for a traditional book club approach. This definitely needs more of a deep dive study. And I’m loving it that I get to share it all with you!

We also touched on the authors strong critique of what she calls “invasive orthodoxy” in organized religions. As I shared it in my video, many practitioners (myself included) came from an Abrahamic back-ground. I want to hear your perspective on that and what experiences you’ve had. If you’re interested, maybe I can do a video on how I discovered my practice. I also mentioned that the author includes a lot of ideas and influences from the Wiccan religion. I’m not wiccan, and you don’t have to be either to enjoy this book.

Building on the quotes we shared, I really enjoyed how the author emphasized the importance of forging your own path. Witchcraft is a “CRAFT” and that we need to actually do the things in order to learn and really become part of the magick. Even little actions, such as lighting a candle with intention, or enchanting your morning tea/coffee with an affirmation, it all adds up 💜

Something I absolutely LOVE about her approach is how she bridges witchcraft with science. Afterall, magick is a science which hasn’t been explained yet. She points out some patterns and phenomena that are recognized under different names. For example, us practitioners call it smoke cleansing, and studies show that burning certain herbs does improve air quality. Although this is a “physical” example, it does show how it’s connected. She calls this the “Is-ness”. There’s a lovely diagram she shares on page 19 which I have posted below.

Everything is connected. What are your thoughts?

Heron continues to emphasize the importance of being your own witch, doing the research and putting things into practice. Don’t taking everything you read or see within your studies as pure fact. I think this is a very important standpoint and I will be mentioning it over and over. I have a feeling she will do so as well.

This brings us to when we talked about the exercises, meditations, and rituals she provides in her book. You can follow them down to a T to and explore things that way. Or you can tweak them to fit your personal practice better. From my perspective, I almost never follow a spell or workings that were written by someone else. For this study, I will try them as presented, but I will still adjust a few elements so it feels more personal. This way I’ll be able to connect with the magick on a deeper level. How do you go about trying things out?

I think thar wraps up the main points from our video. There were waaaaay more details and explanations during my live, so if you feel like I missed something important, let me know down in the comments. 💜

For our next meeting, we will be going over pages 27-52. I’m excited to have you join our little book coven to continue exploring elemental witchcraft.
